Visit an organic farm and learn how nature grows food. In this experiential learning outing, children are taken for an educational tour of a natural farm and learn about many nature-friendly and agriculture concepts practiced. The farm grows a variety of fruit, millet, spices, vegetable and medicinal plants, children meet farm animals, learn about sustainability practices like composting and importance of cow manure and observe many kind of small wildlife like insects, amphibians, small mammals and reptiles.
The farm practices a agro-forest method of growing, children understand the time, effort and the numerous possibilities of growing with Nature. They also experience activities like pottery, games and have lunch and fruit all grown and prepared farm fresh.
Duration 6 hours (10 am to 3 pm)
1. Meet & Interact with farm animals & learn about the role they play at the farm.
2. Learn about natural food growing ways like mixed and multi cropping.
3. Learn to Identify different plants & trees within the farm.
4. Learn about trees, medicinal plants, fruits, spices, vegetables
5. Enjoy a delicious meals.
6. Pottery and tractor ride.
09:35 AM to 10:00 AM – Arrival and Introduction.
10:30 AM to 12:30 PM – Farm Trail and Walk.
1. Rainwater harvesting practices.
2. Low rope and high rope courses.
3. Composting with worms.
4. Importance of cows and manure.
5. Horticulture, practice of growing many together.
6. Tree walk and explanation in detail with stories on biodiversity and plants.
7. Beekeeping and how these insects are important.
8. 100% sustainable space which recycles water and composts all food.
9. Tractor ride.
1. We expect every Adventurer to be humble towards Nature, localities and tribal.
2. In case of damage or lose of any of the property or equipment, responsible member has to bare the cost.
3. All our events are built on Teamwork methodology. Our Instructor/Guide/coordinators presence in the event is to lead the event, make sure that things are going as per plan, schedule, and safety.
4. Follow “Leave No Trace” policy, never throw or leave anything en-route or at camp area .
5. All the participants should sign the Indemnity bond before participating in any activities.
The Big Barn is a farm in Bangalore ideal for kids picnics! Very close to the Bannerghatta National park! Come and be a farmer for a day! It is not a resort or a theme park!
